For shows that are remakes using the same name as the original, new episodes of the remake are not being identified as needing to be recorded if the same season and episode from the original are already in the library. My example is MacGyver. I have almost all of the seasons and episodes from the original 1985 series. They are stored in a folder named according to the remake pattern, MacGyver (1985). I have the episodes from the remake in a folder MacGyver (2016). Tonight is the first episode of Season 2 on the remake. The DVR won’t identify this as one to record. I assumed it was because it was seeing Season 2 Episode 1 from the original. From that suspicion, I removed Season 2 from the 1985 folder of the library. The DVR then identified the new episode airing tonight as to be recorded and is not on the recording schedule. Need someway to identify to the scheduler that these are different Series, even though they have the same name and should be recorded. I’ve used the setting of New and Repeat Airing in configuring the recording settings.
