Two out of two times that I’ve tried to record, the recording aborted itself 10 - 15 minutes into the recording. And I have no idea where the partial recording is saved. I’m running Plex on Mac OS X 10.9.5. Plex Server v1.5.5.3634. I only just subscribed to Plex Pass today so that I can try out Plex DVR. I didn’t upgrade to v1.7.x just in case I decide not to continue with Plex Pass after this month.
Plex DVR is a Beta Product.
It barely works properly.
In my case about 30% of my recordings fail with no apparent reason.
Support for DVR is sketchy at best.
If you were able to have seen the secret forum posts before buying Plex Pass just for DVR I would bet you might have passed it up.
I NEVER recommend buying Plex Pass just for DVR.
Incidentally Version 1.7.2 (Current Plex Pass Version) is also a Beta product.
Good news you just paid good money to Beta Test for Plex… Congrats…
@Chanc I’d recommend installing 1.7.2 and trying that out, as there are some improvements to DVR in there that might help. If you decide you don’t want to continue, you can always change back to the Public release.
And if you’re that unhappy @jjrjr1, feel free to ask for a refund and you don’t have to pay for Plex Pass.
@keithah
What does that have to do with anything???
Kind of a ridiculous statement…
I do not remember saying anything like I was unhappy with Plex Pass.
Just stating the facts…
Each can make their own decisions…

Thanks again Dave. After I updated to 1.7.2, the recordings stopped crashing.
Glad to hear that!!
However when I upgraded to 1.7.2 crashes became more frequent.
I discovered that if Database maintenance is occurring, DVR will abort.
Also if a remote user is transcoding a stream while recording, DVR aborts with transcoder failures.
Also orphaned transcoder tasks occur consuming network bandwidth
There are no longer Close Captions in the recordings.
Thanks @jjrjr1 !
