Ramdom Aborted DVR Recordings.. Possible insight for Plex

Well
Since it has been weeks (and in some cases months) and I still have about 30% of my recordings being aborted and No response to posts regarding this from any Plex Rep, I might have noticed a pattern that Plex Might want to explore… (Or Not LOL as usual)

It seems the most of my aborted recordings occur during HIGH database operations.

Most notably my early AM recordings are seeming to fail much more consistently than others.

IE around 4 AM for me when Database maintenance, Deep Analysis, and Program Guide Update are processing.

Maybe that will give you guys something to TEST… Dunno.

Have you tried adjusting the hours of when maintenance tasks are allowed to run?

Nope…
I am not messing with this any more.
Just providing observation.
Up to Plex to at least try and figure this out now.

I have provided tons of info and performed many tests for them in the past.

It’s kinda time for Plex to run some tests and WORK the problem… Not Me!!!

I will be happy to provide info as I learn it etc.

They can take up the ball now…

BTW for a different issue I tried changing times for BG tasks et. al. Did all Plex’s leg work. But mostly problems I and many others have posted get completely ignored or ridiculed as my problem.

Most of any meaningful help for me has come from other members of this community NOT Plex Support (sort of a misnomer)… I posted this observation so maybe other members of the Community could try it or confirm the coincidence or give Plex a possible path for investigation if they are so inclined.

I am tired of doing Plex’s troubleshooting!!!

Plex can setup test cases… I am sick of disrupting MY media server, which is heavily used, to support their testing and problem resolution process.

Oh…

BTW.
This is what completely tipped my attitude toward Plex support (Beside the fact that they cannot even fix this forum… Plex’s self admitted Support System… LOL. http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/269361/forum-posts-listed-as-new-even-after-being-read#latest)

I posted two separate issues regarding problems with DVR…
@BigWheel summarily closed one, obviously not reading it or giving it any valid consideration…
True Customer Support… Plex Style… LOL

Followed by another issue. Told I was crazy basically and duplicate posting…

BTW Neither problem has been addressed by Plex in almost 2 weeks. (As well as other similar posts that have gone un acknowledged for months but at least not closed as duplicates)
The only Plex response I got for Customer Support was not related to either issue seen by a Plex Employee but rather un ceremoniously closing one…
LOL

I have found another condition that can be causing these mysterious aborted recordings.

It seems heavy transcoding while recording can cause the recording to abort. That is, if another user is watching a video requiring transcoding, that process causes DVR to abort a recording in progress under certain conditions.

The new transcoding bug introduced in PMS 1.7.1 made this behavior easy to spot…
