Server Version#:the latest Plex Pass. I just updated it a couple of days ago.
I’m getting absolutely no response posting this question in other areas of the forum, so I guess I need to spam it everywhere. I’ve noticed that I have recordings scheduled in the DVR and when I check the back calendar days later there’s no mention of them failing or otherwise even being on the recording schedule. They definitely were on the schedule to be recorded and simply failed. At one point in the past I would get a notice that a recording would fail and the past week would show a red ! next to failed recordings. This doesn’t seem to be the case any more.
Where can I look to find more detail about why Plex is failing to record?
Since no one feels compelled to assist, I’ve been doing my own troubleshooting. I have 2 HDHR4 2 tuner units. 4 tuners total, but I have to cherry pick the stations from the guide or I risk getting low quality signals. They’re pointed in different directions (I’m kind of between cities) although there’s some overlap in what they pick up. I’ve eliminated the source of contention for the HDHRs, updated the firmware on the HDHRs and updated and rebooted Plex. Here’s what I’m noticing.
When I select a show to watch on the Plex app (Apple TV) it shows as 1 tuner in use in the PMS tuner settings. If I stop watching that it doesn’t appear to release it. If I select a second show to watch it then shows 2 tuners in use, even though I’m only watching one tuner. If I stop that and start watching another show it either fails or it shows 3 tuners in use on the single HDHR! There’s only 2 tuners! It also doesn’t appear to honor my localized channel selection. If I select a channel in city B it’ll look like it’s tuning in the tuner on HDHR A instead. It never tries HDHR B and it never appears to roll over either (for the couple of common channels).
I’ve now deleted HDHR B from the Plex DVR to see if having a single HDHR makes a difference. I’ll watch live TV on HDHR B through other means.
