I recently reinstalled Plex for Android on my phone, and the Device Name changed back to the default “Moto Z Play Droid”. I went into Advanced under Settings to change it back to “David’s Phone” several days ago, but it still says “Moto Z Play Droid” on the device list on the server and the “Locations” list on my phone.
How do I force the server to refresh the device name? I’ve already restarted both PMS and the app, so that doesn’t fix it.
Are you serious? I have to delete and resync every single device connected to my account?? Just to get the device names to fix, hopefully and “with luck”?

…Unless you’re suggesting that the devs don’t actually care to implement or fix things users on their official support forum ask for. That would be quite lame of them, I imagine.
Be aware though, there is a regression in the latest PMS (1.9.7) or the Android app (6.9.0) where the Device Name does not update for Android devices.
So apparently my try anything right now is moot anyway.
I will let you know if I hear anything from the devs in regards to this issue.

This never used to be an issue. I too reinstalled Plex on my Phone and three Amazon Tablets. All four devices are not updating their names on the server. I did remove the old devices on the server interface. This appears to be a real bug to me.
