I’m playing with plex to replace the hosting for my Google Play Music library of audiobooks.
Years ago I uploaded my collection, then corrected the meta data in the cloud. Now I’m importing to Plex I’m having to correct it again. Rather than risk having to repeat that process again, this time I’m changing the meta data in the actual files.
My problem is that not all of the meta data changes are picked up when I use Scan Library or Refresh meta data.
For example, one audio book had multiple CDs but none of the files had an Artist tag or CD or Track Number tags. This means they were loaded as “Various Artists”. I went back to the files, changed the CD, Track, Artist -and- the Album Artist tags (manually, but using an mp3tag app) then refreshed the meta data. The CD and track changes were picked up, but not the Artist or Album Artist changes.
Peculiarly, when I deleted the library and re-imported it, the corrected Artist tag -was- picked up.
Why the different behaviour? Is it intentional? Is there something I might be doing wrong?

Prefer local meta data is set to true.
