Refreshing metadata and/or analyzing large library

I’m almost done scanning a 30tb music/movies/tv library and I was planning on doing an ‘analyze’ and and ‘refresh metadata’ for good measure once i was done since some metadata are missed and just a few files don’t play properly.

How long would this take?(about as long as the initial scan?)
What should i expect?
Can i just click analyze then refresh right after each other or do i have to wait?

How many items have been indexed ?
I ask because if it just finished, don’t rush it.

PMS will collect up the list of items to pull metadata for. It may not be complete.

Size is not the factor here. Item count, and how well named, determines how long it takes.
I can match and pull metadata for 11TB of television (10203 files) is about 20 minutes over a 40 Mbps service but also be advised, my media is perfectly curated.

curious, is there a way to get the items indexed count?
also, the issue from yesterday has been resolved. i had to repeatedly and repeatedly try refreshing but it eventually worked.

also, any reason i dont have the ‘plex pass’ role on this forum?

  1. Re PlexPass role. I see your PlexPass went active recently. You might still be running on the old login token.
  2. Sign out and back into the forum itself.
  3. If that doesn’t make it visible, I will ask the admin to look.

Regarding how to find the number of files indexed.

A good rough count and, if perfectly curated, accurate:

find /media-dir-1 /media-dir-2 /media-dir-n -type f -print | wc -l

ok my library is 100% done scanning but for some reason refuses to get metadata for a few tv series

what are some of the name it refuses, exactly as you have the file names please? Also please show your structure for these

i’ll get others but here is one of them
i had to ‘fix match’ and chose themoviedb for it to work, but it wasn’t working otherwise

Not entirely the best naming
Not bad but if I may suggest better and per Plex best practices ?

This will refresh the best (quickest) because there is no ambiguity.
Ambiguities creep in on series like “The Flash” and “The Flash (2014)”. Adding “(1996)” by default guarantees deconfliction. Adding it to the name (best practice) makes each match an atomic operation with TheTVDB (all needed info is from the given file name)
