Refreshing metadata doesn't work

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: 3.77.4

(I’m a bit annoyed when a forum auto-locks threads after 3 months)

When I refresh metadata for my library, it does not update specific files. I don’t see any xml file in the folder, and I don’t see where it’s getting the names.

I tried unmatching the files, and then re-matching, and it pulled the same names.

I was hoping this thread would be helpful to me, but it’s already closed, without any answer.

I’ve deleted the cache, and I’ve restarted plexmediaserver a few times. That didn’t seem to help.

Here’s teh xml for a culprit file, in case that’s useful:

And here’s the data it should be getting: Legion - Chapter 11 - TheTVDB.com

Have you “Plex Danced” the media?

In most cases, if you rename the media in-situ, after it was unsuccessfully scanned the first time, PMS won’t see it again until you move it to an unmonitored location, scan, empty trash, then clean bundles, and move it back. This is the ‘Plex Dance’.

Engineering is working on a change to alleviate the problem.

Is there a way I can do “the dance” on specific files without so many steps? It’s could be as many as 50 files scattered throughout my library.

So I would have to log into plex, click into each episode to find the ones that have the wrong details, and then move them out, scan, move them back in…

I could do this with my whole collection, but then I would (presumably) loose my whole library’s played status.
