Refresh All Metadata NOT working

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554

I added a new TV show I just bought, but things were all messed up in Plex. I did some research, and the DVD series and episode counts were different than on thetvdb.com. thetvdb.com had the aired order (9 seasons) but the DVD set combined them into 8 seasons.

Anyway, I got everything straightened out on the file system, but I can’t get Plex to refresh the metadata.

I tried moving the TV show to another library, and it showed up just fine.

I moved it back to the original folder/library, and then re-scanned and clicked ‘Refresh all Metadata’ but the meta data was incorrect again.

I ended up deleting the entire library within Plex and re-adding it (with the same library name) and it still doesn’t show up correctly.

I also tried moving the show, deleting it from within Plex, emptying the trash within Plex, then putting the show back and re-scanning and force refreshing. Still no joy.

Is there a trick to getting ‘Refresh All Metadata’ to work?

Is there a way to purge the entire database, if need be? I’ve looked in the Settings area, but don’t see anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your problem is common and I hope easily fixed. It’s time you do
The Plex Dance. :slightly_smiling_face:

A misconception of refresh all metadata.

I have seen references to that before, and I tried yesterday and today (without the optimize bundles step, because I couldn’t find that option in the settings) but it didn’t work. Where is the optimize bundles link?

Some of The Plex Dance items are found in the Settings > Troubleshooting
I think I empty trash from my QNAP admin login because it’s not a Plex trash that I have.

At one point you asked about wiping your Plex database and starting over.
There’s probably a FAQ on that, but dancing your data generally works great.

Confused metadata is a matter of naming, embedded metadata, agent order and agent settings, and the point at which the media was introduced to Plex. You might check you media is clean of metadata, consult the Plex article on Agents, and double check those, so that when you dance the media, something like Local Media Assets doesn’t set the Plex Metadata incorrectly.
