I have been having some trouble with metadata from shows that are airing. The newest episode sometimes has “TBA” as its title. This is probably due to propagation, which I understand. The weird thing is after it has (sort of) propagated:
If I refresh the metadata for that episode (using the ‘refresh metadata’ option on the episode itself), it actually pulls the correct info. However, when I then refresh the metadata for the entire show, it reverts the title for the episode back to “TBA” (along with the rest of the metadata).
I stumbled upon this because I kept using the ‘refresh metadata’ option on the show, when I wanted to refresh the metadata for multiple episodes with a “TBA” title.
I suspect the ‘refresh metadata’ option on the show is using TMDB data that hasn’t propagated fully yet, and the ‘refresh metadata’ option on the episode is using the TVDB data that has? I noticed that the TVDB was quicker to update their metadata than TMDB. Though this is just a speculation.
I looked at the plex logs, but I don’t think they are of much use. Though I could provide them if needed. I also have made a video of the issue, that I can provide.
Kind regards,
Glenn
UPDATE: just shy of a day later, refreshing the metadata for the entire show does not revert the newer episode metadata.
