[RELEASE] OpenPHT 1.5.0

In web app all OpenPHT clients are under Devices->Other. In order to classify them as Home Theater fix should be made by Plex devs right?

It will be interesting to see what Plex Inc do with PMP as, at the moment, that is also classified as ‘Other’. It’s the client that determines what it is. We’ll discuss the categorisation of both OpenPHT and Rasplex (which at the moment is still ‘Home Theater’).

How can I build at Ubuntu?

I read ‘readme.linux and readme.ubuntu’, but It’s all about installation of XBMC.
Shall I install XBMC? Right?

Put Android/iOS/Windows Phone clients to one category Mobile.
Smart TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Fire TV, Xbox, PlayStation to one category - Plex Smart?, Consoles?
PMP + PHT (for time of existance) + Win 10 App - Media Players?
OpenPHT, RasPlex and other community driven one category - Community Players?
Stuff like Plex it!, trakt for Plex, PlexPy, etc should land in Addons or Utilities. Maybe even add Web Category to it.

I tried with OpenPHT source.
In short, if I follow the standard Linux instructions to build PHT I’ll be fine. I’m just curious if there’s anything special you guys did (patching, extra build options, etc)
EDIT: Running “./configure” worked just fine, but running “make” immediately has an error with "#include “Plextypes.h”

Changing Categories is definitely Plex Inc’s responsibility, we take one of the exiting categories and add the correct string to make PlexWeb display it in one of their categories. The change you’ve outlined should be raised in the PMS forum, or better still in the Feature Requests forum. We’re going to change the string in a future build to get OpenPHT back in Home Theater.

Can we get a openelec build?

Current OpenPHT is effectively a port to Windows and OSX of the PHT source code used for RasPlex, which originally was a port to OpenELEC for RPi of the official PHT sources. RasPlex is still OpenELEC based and will remain so, the only difference being that it is now a project independent of any future PHT sources from Plex Inc (as there probably won’t be any such).

So it should definitely be possible to make a port of OpenPHT to OpenELEC for normal PCs as well.

However, traditionally other people have handled OpenELEC and other PC-Linux based ports of PHT, and it might be a good idea to stick to this method. That’s partly not to ‘step on any toes’ ;), but mainly because the coders for OpenPHT/RasPlex already have a lot on their plate, and adding support for the PC Linux distros as well might be too much. These guys have ‘real’ jobs and a private life outside programming as well, so they can’t dedicate all their time to supporting a lot of different releases to cope with all OS variants.

Best regards: dlanor

I believe one of the “other people” handling the openelec builds was Mark Walker, who is a lead developer for Plex and seems to be very involved in the PMP releases so I think if it’s to come to openelec it’s going to have to be someone else as those toes we would be avoiding have walked away.

Thank you!!!, any screen shots of this? Will skins from pht work on this?

Yes they do. Havent test all of them, but @MagnumDoomguy 's Aeon Nox works like a charm!

Yes, all third party skins work OK, can recommend Plex Black Edition HT.

Regards

I can confirm that Plex Black Edition Ht combined with OpenPHT is awesome

I love the shared content on the home screen.
The only thing that is a little bit confusing is that if there are people in your shared content list that have the same names for sections, let’s say “Tv Shows” , which is the default name, things get a bit confusing to find out which one is which. Is it possible to add an option to change the name yourself? Or, perhaps even better, to select a server like in the Samsung app, or PMP (one of the few, if not the only thing i like about it)

If i hover over TV Shows, there’s a small line underneath with the pms name.

I just try OpenTHP and same problem than normal version. My X-Files TVShow continue crashing… arghhh!

When dies OPHT fork from PHT? Just curious.

Really happy with OPHT

Presume you mean ‘does’, because PHT is end of life, to continue development without starting from scratch.
