Remote access and even http://192.168.1.2:32400 not working

Hello there!

I’ve been trying to enable remote access on my Plex Media Server the whole day, without success.

Plex is working fine via https://app.plex.tv as long as I’m connecting from my LAN.

But http://192.168.1.2:32400 (my Arch Linux server IP address) doesn’t respond.

So of course, even though I’ve successfully forwarded the port, as confirmed by CanYouSeeMe.org, I can’t enable remote access from the Web UI.

I’m running Plex Media Server v1.13.4.5271, installed from the AUR package.

Any suggestion? Thank you in advance!

Navigate to http://www.ipchicken.com and try using that address and see if it works. If it doesn’t than the port forwarding is not setup correctly.

Somehow it began to work on its own, I don’t know how.

Are you aware of some sort of delay to enable remote access? (cloud enabled?)

Regarding direct access, I’ve found that it works in HTTPS, and in HTTPS only, which seems new to me. (For example https://192.168.1.2:32400).

I hope it’ll keep working, even though I’m not very confident as I don’t understand what made it work!

Maybe that’s the issue. It’s been https for a while now. You can technically allow http but I wouldn’t advise it. Keep it on https.
