Remote access connects and disconnects in a few seconds

Server Version#: Windows Server 2025
Player Version#: 4.145.1
I was pushed to move from my working Server 2012 to Windows server 2025 to run the new Plex server and have access with the new App’s. I have everything set up and turned on but remote access starts, connects, and disconnects a few seconds later. I have tried with and with out firewall turned on and still the same actions. Im at a loss for what to do next.

I am connected directly to a Starlink Router.

Remote Access is never working. Plex is being optimistic while trying to enable the service, then eventually failing and showing “not available…”

Starlink, like many ISPs, uses CG-NAT addressing, which is incompatible with Plex remote access.

Contact Starlink and ask if they can provide a public, IPv4 address that supports port forwarding. They will most likely charge extra for the capability.

The alternative is to use some form of tunneling to a proxy server or possibly a VPN that supports port forwarding. Search on the Internet for “Starlink port forward”, “CG-NAT port forward”, or similar terms.

Others on the forum may be able to provide additional information.

That would be strange as my original server 2012 on the same network connection worked perfect for me. I Have a new server running server 2025. i swapped all connections to it and now is when i am having problems.

Possibly connecting via Plex Relay?

The stream is tunneled through servers at Plex and limited to 2 Mbps. In the Plex Dashboard, the connection is Indirect instead of Local or Remote.

interesting I will have to look into that…
