Remote access disabled and re-enables after simply opening remote access settings

This has actually been going on for a couple years but I’m finally fed up with it. On a daily basis, Plex is unavailable remotely. To get it working, all I have to do is go to settings>remote access and it immediately turns green and starts working again.

I’ve played with all the settings. DHCP, static IP, different DNS’s, manually specifying the default port of 32400 with port forwarding, different local IP ranges…

I’ve seen all sorts of posts form people with remote access issues and having to disable and re-enable it, but I have not seen anyone post about remote access being re-enabled simply but going to the remote access settings page.

Was having same problem. But now I cannot connect at all. Have to post that.

  1. don’t rely on UPnP to set up the necessary port forwarding. Create it yourself in the settings of your router.
