Remote access from Synology

Just tried remote streaming to my mobile and it seems to be working though?
Screenshot 2022-02-19 070332

Plex/web won’t change from Red → Green sitting on the page.
(it’s static until refreshed)

If you switch to Settings - General then back to Settings - Remote Access, you’ll see it change.

Also Control-F5 to reload Plex/web will get it too.

Yeah, all seems to be working except for Plex web, and I can’t work out why it’s not working

Is there a reason why the connection is not secure when I access via the IP address?

Do you have DNS-rebinding blocked?
(the *.plex.direct domain is how you get secure on LAN)

How do I know if I do?

One of the guys who I share the server with just sent me a message saying he’s getting the same "app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “RobinsonNAS” securely

Ok, so I saw something on reddit where someone said it was fixed by switching secure access from preferred to required then back to preferred. So i switched to required, saved changes, and now I’m completely locked out. Can’t access the server at all on 192.168.1.155:32400 or on app.plex.tv

I’m completely lost, don’t know what to do now. Tried restarting the server but that didn’t work. I can still access content within my local network but can’t access anything remotely. Please help

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Install the Synology Text Editor app
  3. Open FileStation
  4. Navigate: PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server
  5. Right-click Preferences.xml → Open with Text Editor
  6. Carefully navigate down to the last line,
  7. Find secureConnections="value" and remove the entiresecureConnections="x" preference.
  8. Save the file.
  9. Start Plex

Yep ok I’m back in. Still no resolution to the remote access issue though

Logs please… Even if you need to stop Plex and manually create a ZIP of the Logs directory ?

Plex.tv sees you just fine,

Reachability = 1 → Plex.tv can talk to the host to request playback.

the remote player should probably restart their app.

App isn’t the issue, apps work fine, it’s the web access that’s not working

Fire up the web in Incognito mode with all plug-ins disabled.

Be prepared to clear out the last 7 days of activity from the browser cache.

Something went sideways in there.

Cleared everything from the last 7 days and still can’t connect to the server securely from the web app

Attempt to access it 3 times then stop plex.
Wait 3 minutes then start it
After it starts, 3 more minutes for it to stabilize
