Remote Access gone wonky

Server Version#:Version 1.42.1.10060
Player Version#: 4.148.0

I have a new and persitent problem with remote access. It was working fine until last week or so and I’ve taken the following steps.

It’s a Linksys MX5500 router, and in common with the advice on here, I’ve enable priority

When viewing the plex app remotely my server shows as “indirect”, and remote access “not available outside your network”, except I seem to be able to play content

I used port forwarding via PIA VPN and it made not difference

When viewing locally it sometimes shows “available outside your network”, but then a remote web app shows the opposite

Sometimes content streams, sometimes it does not

I have enabled IPv6 on Plex, and on my router, Plex seems to be using IPv6

My ISP (Gigaclear) appears to be using CGNAT, but always has done

I can’t think of any more debugging steps, can anyone help?

Hi there, I have found that if my ISP uses CGNAT, it will screw things up. I needed a static IP for plex to work remotely.

Check your IP with whatsmyip.com and make sure it is the same as your router’s public IP. (see Double NAT issues).

Hi,

Yes, I tried everything - IPV6, and a VPN with port forwarding but nothing worked. I have relented and paid for a static IP. Tbf it is only £2 per month.

All working now.

it’s $10 per mth in NZ.
