I'm a moron! Can't get remote access to work

Server Version#:1.21.1.3830
Player Version#:5.6.1
Platform: Win10 Pro
Router: Fritzbox 7530
OS: FritzOS 07.20

First - on the same network - everything is peachy so I know the system is working.

I can’t seem to get remote access to work.

Remote access starts goes green but then goes red.

I’ve tried:

  • IP4/IP6
  • IP4 only
  • Firewall
  • No firewall

Things can get worse but they never get up and stay up!

I’ve been able to get in the the web a couple of times but it’s inconsistent. I’ve checked the router logs and the router is staying up, just not sure what the deal is.

I can send the logs if that will help.

Appreciate any help. I’ll keep trying to scour the topics but haven’t found anything that fits.

[mod edit: removed images with external IP]

Do you have an ISP modem router combo

Yes, but they allow pretty much full access. IP4/6, custom DNS, DDNS, static routes, etc.

I don’t want to hog the post, but I am having the exact same issue. My PMS will go green to say remote access is available then it just switches off. I then have to click “Retry” to get it working again, then I just go round in a loop.

So I am following this post, I am wondering if this is a bug in the software?

So do I. Here was my issue. I bought a second router and could not get a connection. Ihad my ISP turn off my internet to their router and used my own. I set up a static IP. Did port forwarding. It works great now .

I would use manual port forwarding in your router rather than UPnP which can be flaky in many routers.

I’m happy to try that. I’ll let you know what happens.

I use a DDNS so I’m assuming I can just point it there + the port number.

you need to use the actual local IP of the server computer in your port forwarding router if that is what you mean. If you are using a docker or VM or something you have to tell it to use the host computers network

I bought an after market router , cause for some reason the ISP router would not work

I have found the issue to my problem. Mine was caused by the VPN client on my router, for some reason it’s causing all my devices to lose internet access, so I have disabled it for the time being.

Okay, so the plot thickens.

I am able to login via Safari and connect/stream on the server. My Samsung TV app doesn’t connect - “SERVER UNAVAILABLE”. I left early access and went back to previous Samsung TV app. No change

Server thinks there is no remote access (see screen shot). But how am I connected via Safari. Server is 6,000mi away so its not the same network at all.

Same crap, Plex can’t keep their stuff stable for any long duration of time. Yet again we are having authenticatoin issues.

Thickening more - works from my iPhone too!

Works from Plex for Mac app as well!!

Is this just a Samsung TV app issue? I’ve changed everything I think that’s appropriate on the server and in the Samsung TV client but nothing works.

Since its working on the “web” , Plex Mac app, and iPhone apps, I think the connectivity is correct in my router.

Any help? Does anyone have a Samsung TV app running/working?

Attached is proof that the Plex Mac app and iPhone apps work.

si la pc example 192.168.0.200 con puerto 32400 tiene abierto el puerto para esa IP FIJA.
la computadora virtual de VMWARE que use el adaptador compartido ya no necesita abrir otro puerto para su IP?

Hi @fspatt, but it’s working because Plex server and your device are on the same local network right? I can see your iphone connected to a wifi.
What’s the Operacional System you’re running Plex server on?

Hi CostaHT - no the plex server is 6,000 miles away! The TV, iPhone, and laptop (Plex Mac app) are all on the same network.

The Plex server is running on Win10Pro.

You want to troubleshoot it right now? Let’s make it work

sure! Love too.

@BigWheel we need your expertise. Basically, fspatt is behind a CGNAT and some of his devices are able to connect using 2Mb relay (plex pass), but his TV cannot reach the server. Anything you thing we can do ?
