Remote Access Help - followed troubleshooting already

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: Version 4.8.4

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me find the remote server. I’ve read several posts and the troubleshooting already. Thank you very much in advance

  • Originally, i had double NAT, which was confirmed by seeing different IPs in what’smyip vs the plex web app. Also, when i did a traceroute, there were 2 internal IPs on the first two jumps

  • I then switched my 2nd router to bridge mode. So my PC/plex server is now on the 1st router’s network. Seems like double NAT no longer…

  • I tried both automatic and manual setting. when i did manual, i changed public port to 32400

  • in my router port forward settings, i direct port 32400 to my plex/pc

  • I restarted plex server, pc, and routers

Am i missing something here?

after restaring evrerything, my public IP in plex is now different from my canyouseemy IP.
in fact, it changes every time i click refresh

it seems like there is some sort of double routing issue, but any idea how to fix please?

Your traceroute shows that two private networks are still present: 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x. Thus you are still in a doubly NAT’d configuration. Are you certain you successfully enabled bridge mode? Are you using some facility-provided (apartment, work, et al…) Internet service or are you getting it directly from your ISP?

ok thank you.

so now, i plugged my pc directly into the first router (completely bypassing the 2nd router that i had set into bridge mode.

however, my ip and traceroutte look similar.

i have internet service directly from ISP, but i live in a big apartment building where they probably service everyone

I suppose this is an issue i should contact my ISP - what should i ask/tell them i need?

It looks as though they be using Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) to conserve public IPv4 addresses. You could ask them if that’s the case and, if so, if they can give you a public IPv4 address. They may charge extra for the service.

thank you very much. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
my isp provided me with a IPV4 address free of charge.

plex no longer shows an error

but interestingly, my trace route still shows two private networks
