Remote Access is Flaky with Latest Updates

Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
Player Version#: varies

I recently updated several components on my Plex server (Windows, Plex, etc) and am now having strange Remote Access behavior and problems. I need help understanding how to diagnose the issue.

The server works perfectly locally. Remotely it worked perfectly for many, many months until this past weekend. Remote users see a variety of symptoms. Users on Roku can’t see the server. Users on TiVo get access and can use it, but it often suddenly stops. Users from the web or Windows client can use it fine and without fail.

On the server, the Remote Access page behaves strangely. When I check or click “apply” it will spin for a bit and then say “fully accessible” in green. All good. Then a few seconds later, completely on its own, it switches to red and “not accessible”. It stays that way, but some users (see above) and still use it.

The server is running Windows 10, and it is fully up to date. The Plex software is v 1.15.3.876, just updated. The system does (must) run through a VPN, but as noted this has worked for years. The router has explicit directions sending all Plex traffic (port 32400) to the dedicated server address.

I have tried any number of combinations including changing the port, port forwarding through the VPN, hardcoding the various Plex addresses in the hosts file, etc. None get me back to a consistent state.

Can anyone help me diagnose the problem? What logs do I need to send to get this nailed?

Thank you in advance.

You can certainly try the logs but so far nobody has seen anything in the log files that points to the issue, I’ve been having the issue for over a year now.
