I can’t watch my content remotely in larger bitrates than 2Mbps, because the connection is indirect and it uses Plex’s relay server. On my android phone the plex app plays everything in 1080p and up to 20Mbps so I assume that it can make a direct connection. What is causing my laptop to use the relay? I tried if disabling the firewall fixed it but the problem persisted. I have tried both Plex player versions(Win 10 app store and the other) and 3 browsers without success.
Try to use a different DNS server with your laptop.
In the network configuration, set ‘DNS server’ to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
If this happens only when you are using a particular WiFi or LAN, ask the admin of that network to make this change in his router instead.
If someone finds this fix useful, I got a public ip-address from my ISP and remote access is now working as intended.
