Player Version#: Chrome/Phones/Smart tv (up to date)
Remote access has been working fine for years, but the relay has been on all the time because I didnt notice it before.
Remote access in settings has always been green, not having problem with that.
Manually specify public port has been open in the router all the time, and checked the box in PMS settings with same port.
Also tried to uncheck the box and that port it changed to is also open in the router/windows
Also the ports for DLNA, GDM, Roku, etc… listed in another topic is open in windows firewall.
UPNP is enabled
Static IP adress in windows, and also forced the router to give that pc the static ip adress.
Server connection = Preferred
So been working fine, only that they been capped at 2mbps when the relay is on.
And now the tricky parts begin
Relay is on:
Phones using mobile data can connect and watch
Phone on wifi can connect and watch
Smart tv on wifi can connect (since the last update not everbody can connect)
(2mbps)
Relay is off:
Phones using mobile data can connect and watch
Phones on another ISP than me can connect to wifi and watch
Smart tv on another ISP than me can connect and watch the server
Phones on wifi using the same ISP that I have can’t connect
Smart tv using the same ISP that I have can’t connect
Is there someone else that have come across this problem also with relay off ?
I think it’s maybe something blocked at the ISP between us that have the same, or is there some settings I maybe have missed out when I want the relay off ?
Hoping to have it off, so the quality and speed can go above 2mbps.
Ugh. I was afraid you’d say that.
In cases like this, it has often to do with the ISP cutting corners and not separating their customers private networks properly from each other.
Can you edit the settings in your router? Or don’t you have a router at all but only have an ethernet wire coming out fo the wall?
No need. Just look for a setting named “DNS server” and set it to either 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
The same on the router of your buddy.
Then look out for a setting named “DNS rebinding protection”. If there is one, define an exception for the domain plex.direct.
OK I tried to find it, the DNS server has to adresses in my router (Inteno EG400)
But cant seem to find where to change them.
I changed the dns in windows to google.
If you change it in the network clients, you need to change it in every Plex client device and the Plex server device as well. And unfortunately there is still no guarantee that it will work afterwards.
