Remote Access issues after updating

Plex Media Server NAS & Devices

Kinda a weird issue and it’s been working fine for some time. I manually did the latest update to my server and now remote access comes up with “not available outside your network”. What makes this situation more weird is I have a user on it remotely now. It could very well be a UI bug but I find it odd…

Have you tested if it’s still working with a device of your own running outside your home network? You could e.g. simply disable WIFI on a your mobile and open either your phone’s plex app or http://app.plex.tv/desktop from your mobile’s browser.

The remote access status indicator has a history of getting distracted :wink:

Edit: has your remote access been working before? based on the log snippet it seems at least some of the communication is going through a Plex Relay (which will only give you a limited bandwidth of 1 Mbit/s for regular users; 2 Mbit/s for Plex Pass members)

FWIW, I’m seeing the same problem on my DS918+. Started a few releases ago. UI states not available remotely, but service is working fine to remote clients. Initially the “Not Available” status would go away if I reran the connection check. Lately the status goes green for a few seconds and immediately returns.

Thanks for responding! That’s exactly what I was to come back to say. It was working fine then I ran the latest update on my Synology and this is the end result. I do a manual port forward, which should be working but it’s consistently failing to have remote access.

To add to the mix, I had to to do some optimizing of my database to get a few other issues right which now is a ton better then before but I’m struggling with this remote access.

To give you an idea of what my setup looks like

Synology 1019+
PMS 1.19.1.2645

Eero Pro Mesh setup
TP-Link network switch
Standard cable modem

I have the wired network (unmanaged) switch connected to the Eero.

The Synology is connected to the switch

on the Eero port forwarding is kicked on for 32400

the switch has no firewall enabled

Synology NAS has no firewall enabled

The Synology NAS has a dual ethernet setup but I went as far as taking one of the ethernets out and removing the bond to see if that may have been the issue but no luck on that end either.

I question if you’re going through a relay as well… I was good until this current update went on then all these issues started to occur for remote playback.

if you want more logging I will happily provide it… I’ve done everything I possibly can to get this working and can’t for the life of me get to the bottom line of what’s causing this.

Not doing relay, and like I said previously, my remote connections are working. It appears to be just a UI issue.

Same here, this seems to fluctuate between releases. (now running 1.19.1.2621)
I press the main “Settings” icon right-top and then you get on the left the whole tree with items.
At this point there is no status-indicator on the “Remote Access” yet.
Pressing “General” then seems to “refresh” that part of the UI and about 1-2 seconds later the “OK” mark is visible at the Remote Access section.

But in other release I kept indicated “No Access” but technically it worked fined. A “retry” on the Remote Access section then finally gives an “OK” indicator.

Don’t pay too much attention to this flag once you have configured your network. I use a static-fixed port mapping, no UPNP/dynamic sh*t…

Oddly, I turned off the manual port settings and it decided to work again… The really odd part is it’s using the same port I told to forward but on the auto settings.
