Remote Access Issues

Today, I upgraded to Comcast Gigabit internet. They swapped my modem/router out with a new one. I’ve enabled port forwarding on the new modem. http://canyouseeme.org/ shows the port is open.

Plex is showing that the network is accessible remotely, however when trying to browse from my phone (LTE), I’m getting server unavailable.

are you using a mobile Plex client or do you try to access via the browser / Plex Web?

Tried accessing through mobile client in iPhone

Can you try logging into Plex from your phone via mobile Safari?

this is a silly question… does your Plex Media Server get a static IP in your home network (router’s DHCP settings)? – as in: is it accessible at the local IP address given in the port forward?

I stepped away from this for a bit. Went back to check on my phone and now it’s working. :man_shrugging:

I don’t believe it is anything u r doing wrong. I am having the same problem tonight and there were no changes to my server. I then upgraded PMS to the latest version which didn’t help.

I believe it is some problem at Plex. I believe we go through their servers to connect remote devices with the servers. If there r problems at that choke point, then you would not b the only person with this problem. And you aren’t.

I believe we need to go to Plex for help on this.

I also have gig comcast and I’m also having the same problem where the server is reporting that remote access is connected but I’m unable to connect with my LTE iPad through the plex app or safari.

anyone have any clue whats going on where plex doesn’t work externally all of a sudden?
it works inside my network and says its fully accessible outside network but doesn’t.

This was the issue I had earlier after getting a new modem. I set up port forwarding and plex was showing “accessible” but I was unable to reach plex outside of my home WiFi. I’m not sure if the changes just took some time to take effect or what, but I stepped away for about two hours and then it started working.

Well I have been on the Comcast gig service for a week and nothing has changed, I don’t think it’s you because I’m having the same problem. It seems to be a problem with their servers?

same here, since yesterday. It is there and after some time its not. Nothing helps, tried restarting, removing or disabling and re-enabling remote acces. :confused:

Ensure debug logging enabled

restart the server to get fresh logs set created

If the issue that remote access drops out, wait for that to happen then download the logs and attach together with the time when it dropped

If the issue is that remote access is not being successfully enabled, please try to do that after restarting the server - waiting 5 minutes after the restart and then capture logs if you are unable to connect to the server remotely eg through cellular
