Remote access limited to 2mbps and then reports not available

Server Version#:1.30.0.6486
Player Version#: 4.87.2

Running plex on my truenas core system running Version: TrueNAS-13.0-U3.1

I have a Asus GT-AX11000 router where everything is controlled. (even factory reset it to see if that would fix this)

That router is then connected to an xFi xfinity modem ( advanced safety features off as per this link)

What i’ve done so far:

  1. set up port forwards from my router to my xfi system. (32401 on both)

  2. Disabled/reinabled NAT fullcone/synthetic (all 4 variations)

  3. Re-analyzed all video files to maybe help reindex things properly (saw that on a suggested forum)

But the summary is simple. local files play lovely. Remote viewing forces transcoding on any/every device to 2mbps. and about 5 minutes later it flips out and loses connection. Upload is limited to ~22mbps.

My plex knowledge is about a lvl 4/10. so dumb your brilliance to my level please haha. thanks guys, happy holidays!

Did you set the manual port in your server settings to 32401?

Yes

You see how that says RETRY for you. That means it’s not working. Would you mind posting the port forwarding rules from your routers?

last picture is the xFi gateway port forwarding. it does not enable an IP address to be associated (seems odd/maybe one of the issues?)

Internal port is always 32400.
Source IP is blank/all.

You do not want to limit the source IP address, since you do not know the IP address of the remote clients.

ok so that worked (fingers crossed it stays) but I swear i tried a port forward without changing anything to my 32401 (meaning i kept everything 32400). huh…

well so far so good. thanks guys and merry Christmas!!

For future reference, since you have 2 routers, the important port is the 2nd one, the one going to your server. The first one can be anything. The internal from the 1st router needs to match the external on the second router, but the internal on the 2nd must be 32400. For example

First router: external 12345 to internal 98765
Second router: external 98765 to internal 32400

12345 is what you would then put into your server setting.
