Server=Linux, ISP=Comcast, Modem=Comcast, Router=Linksys
Router manual NAT = external modem IP:32400->LinuxIP:32400
Enabled the Remote Access on Linux Plexmediaserver. Set the manual port assignment.
Remote Access Initially reports Green/Enabled. “Fully accessible outside your network”
Then after about 10 seconds, the same page switches to say “Not available outside your network”
What model modem?
More importantly, are you sure it’s not one of those Comcast “residential gateway”, router and modem combined, that would place you in a double NAT situation.
Voice and Data Modem Cisco DPC3941T
I saw the Double-Nat caution on the FAQ and checked from whatismyiP Looks like I’m NOT getting a double-NAT situation.
I do not have UPNP enabled on router (yet)
Thanks
@surfinbox - I actually recommend NOT using UPnP vs just forwarding a port.
Does PMS - settings - remote say your external IP is the same as whatismyip.org says?
If not using UPnP, you have to forward an external port on the router to the linux machine on your LAN.
Doesn’t matter what external, as long as you forward it to your linux.ser.ver.ip port 32400, and set Plex remote setting to manually specified and whatever port number you used externally.
Try http://www.canyouseeme.org/ - make sure your public IP it detected there matches what whatismyip says, and what Plex - settings - remote says your public IP is. Then try verifying the port number. (I think canyouseeme.org defaults to 80, you’ll have to set that port to whatever
Ensure the DPC3941T is in 100% bridge mode.

SOLVED: Solve was to ENABLE Bridge Mode on XFinity home gateway (modem).
Your article/link about Bridge Mode was spot on.
Many thanks!
