Remote access outside of network

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309

Running Plex on 2018 Mac mini i3, 8gb Ram. wired and wireless, Plex is using wired connection

Router is Eero, fiber 500/500

no matter what I try I cant get the remote access to stay on for more then 10 seconds. I have tried UPnP on and off
Port forwarding Private 32400 Public
restarted network
restarted Mac mini

I have also tried using wifi or wired separately no change in remote access…

no firewall is on that Mac mini, not being blocked by Eero, ip is static, reserved with port forwarding.

just restarted service and specified port like I have done about 30 times before and I guess it has decided to remain open and work… so far

…and it died again… ugh

Are you able to take a screenshot of the Eero settings with the reserved IP/port forwarding? And another of your Plex server settings?

Do other port forwards work, or are they intermittent for the entire device?

Are you able to see the public port with your public IP via a site like:

How are you testing it specifically? When you say it dies, are you able to start streaming and then the connection drops? Are you able to describe what happens?

should I delete the ports and re assign just under TCP?

I’m a bit confused by this part. Why toggle off anything?

If you don’t disable lan or WiFi, and try to connect to your Plex server via, let’s say, the mobile app, can you?

So you’d switch your phone to mobile data for example. Make sure it’s not on WiFi.

Then, open the Plex app and try to see if you’re able to access Plex. If port forwarding is working then connecting to 47.145.33.96:35000 (your internet connection/IP to the outside world) will be forwarded to your internal 192.168.7.241:32400.

Does that make sense? Trying to figure out if we’re on the same page. Remote access is for being able to connect to your Plex server on “outside” networks, like if you were using WiFi at a hotel or at a friend’s house.

Learned something new. The Eero has a soft reset on the back of the gateway unit, if everything is configured correctly and still not working hold the button on the back of the unit until the light turns yellow, release and let the unit reboot, that creates all new config files. SO I do have it up and running so far so good !!

thank you.

I would strongly suggest to remove your Public port from your post above immediately

Why? You can’t access his server, can you?
Security through obscurity doesn’t really give you a lot of security.
