Anyone know why it says I don’t have remote access, but on my phone outside my network, I do have access to it?
I mean don’t get my wrong, I’m happy it works, but it’s just annoying and misguided saying its not working when it actually is. I’d like to fix it (if possible), but not sure how. I’ve tried resetting it, and also changing it to a different port, but it always reverts back to saying I don’t have access, but still do.
I’m looking closer into this on the port forwarding side (router). I’ve actually seen on their community forums the same problem, so I’m guessing it’s a known bug, and people just ignore it – but this should be flagged so it can get fixed. This is not a good experience.
I’ve seen this issue of PLEX reporting Remote Access as unavailable in the PC version. Going to Settings in the web/maintenance UI, selecting GENERAL, I’ll usually see the REMOTE item checked as OK. But not infrequently, it will show the Orange warning. If I click on REMOTE ACCESS, the page will show exactly as the example, saying access outside is not working. I used to click retry, and in a moment, it would report working again. (I am NOT using custom ports.) After a few dozen times, I tried just clicking out of the REMOTE settings page, and returning. It would often then say it is working. Next time and ever since, if I see this report I just refresh the web page, and magically it will report all is working. More recently, while it shows NOT working, I’ll test to find that remote clients are working fine despite the report. I’m presuming there’s a status check mistimed or missing when the initial page is drawn, and the fail report is false. And annoying, misleading, and needlessly worrisome. And been this way for literally years.
