Server Version#:4.159.0
I recently noticed that my remote access has the red circle beside it, I’ve read the trouble shooting, set the device the please windows server is on with a static IP and used port-forwarding but it still states “Not available outside your network”, but remote access is working.
I’m wondering if my TP-Link Deco X55 mesh network is confusing the plex server as it’s also stating that it appears I’m on a ”Double-NAT” however I am not, I have fiber and it plug directly into the Deco.
Any thoughts on why it think the remote access isn’t working?
In the server settings in the Plex web app, navigate here:
Settings → [Select Server Name] → Network (Show Advanced)
Is the setting Enable Relay enabled (checked)? If so, remote access was likely being provided via Plex Relay.
Double-NAT can be created in various ways:
Two routers in serial between the server and your ISP;
Wi-Fi extenders or mesh networks creating their own network segment;
ISPs are more commonly implementing CG-NAT (Carrier Grade NAT) due to limited availability of IPv4 address space.
That last point can be particularly insidious as it is induced by factors outside of your control. And ISPs have been known to implement it without notifying their customers (after all, it doesn’t hinder access to the Internet; it only hinders service hosting on your network, which they likely consider a bonus).
Something you can do is check the public IP address which Plex shows in its remote access settings. Is it the same IP address as the one shown for the WAN/public IP address on your router?
Thank you for your quick response, upon further review my ISP has put me behind a CG-NAT after I originally setup Plex remote access.
Just got off chat with them and luckily getting a Static IP is only $5/month, so I might go this route.
