Remote access status keeps flipping between red/green

In the past few days I noticed in the plex settings the remote access will report as not available but if I go into that section and hit retry it will come back as accessible. I got in a hotspot connection to test it as external and was able to get to everything fine, or so it appeared.

Wondering if this is just a visual reporting issue on the settings/dash since it seems to be ok when I poke it and or try to access it externally.

Version - fully up to date. noticed it on multiple machines I’ve tried so not a browser cache issue I would think.

Thank you

Red is Real.

Plex Relay is a fallback service that allows remote access to a Plex Media Server when a direct connection cannot be established due to network restrictions like CG-NAT or double NAT. The service is enabled by default and acts as a middleman, tunneling the media stream from your server through Plex’s servers to your client device

While you can access your server, it only provides enough bandwidth for music streaming, video playback will not work.

I new about the relay but in the past whenever I’ve browsed around in the settings area that option has always been a steady green when I’ve checked.
Any suggestions on what to look at to see why it shows green after a retry but then as soon as I navigate away from the page it goes back to red? The port is obviously open if it successfully reconnects.

found it. I have the Arista ETM appliance and apparently it deciding port 32400 was a high risk scenario and started to block it. not sure why I could manually kick off a retry in plex and get a green light but now it’s back to normal.

Many of us think it shouldn’t start green which gives a false positive.

That threat app must’ve had some update recently as there were a couple other things that were getting caught in there too that hadn’t been before.
