Does anyone know if a specific country is required to be allowed to a network in order for the Remote Access status check?
I normally have GeoIP restrictions so that only the US and Canada are whitelisted for incoming connections. If those restrictions are enabled, it will show that my remote access is “not available outside your network.” This shows with both a local connection and from plex.tv/web dashboard page. If I disable the GeoIP restrictions, it shows online.
Those IPs for AWS resolve to Ireland. Adding that fixed it.
UPDATE: I went back to allowing only the US for incoming connections and added those 2 IPs as allowed to my Synology NAS. Connection status is showing green now with that setup. Thanks @flow !
Did Plex add an additional IP for testing? I only have US IPs for incoming connections with GeoIP blocking. I put both the 54.170.120.91 and 46.51.207.89 IPs in the allow list.
Everything was working well until today. I didn’t change anything and it stopped working. If I allow Ireland again, it stays green. Makes me wonder if there is a new IP that is checking server status.
I’ve since deleted the 2 IPs and not allowing any non-US IPs to connect (GeoIP blocking) and it’s still reporting remote access as green. Not sure what changed recently.
