Remote Access Status Red with GeoIP Restrictions

Server Version#: 1.31.1.6782
Player Version#:

Does anyone know if a specific country is required to be allowed to a network in order for the Remote Access status check?

I normally have GeoIP restrictions so that only the US and Canada are whitelisted for incoming connections. If those restrictions are enabled, it will show that my remote access is “not available outside your network.” This shows with both a local connection and from plex.tv/web dashboard page. If I disable the GeoIP restrictions, it shows online.

Those IPs for AWS resolve to Ireland. Adding that fixed it.

UPDATE: I went back to allowing only the US for incoming connections and added those 2 IPs as allowed to my Synology NAS. Connection status is showing green now with that setup. Thanks @flow !

Did Plex add an additional IP for testing? I only have US IPs for incoming connections with GeoIP blocking. I put both the 54.170.120.91 and 46.51.207.89 IPs in the allow list.

Everything was working well until today. I didn’t change anything and it stopped working. If I allow Ireland again, it stays green. Makes me wonder if there is a new IP that is checking server status.

The IP address pool used by Plex.tv does change from time to time.

The best way to check is to restart PMS (debug logging) and look at the “MyPlex” addresses in use.

If you look carefully, you can search for “Reachability” and see the Remote Access test request and then the reply.

Thanks. I verified that it still works even though the status is red. I’m just going to ignore the status.

Yeah I don’t think it’s just georestrictions. I’m on 1.31.2.6810

Remote Access has a red exclamation but its working fine and I have no geo-blocking so I think the issue is at Plex’s end.

If I manually run the test again the tick goes green and then when you go away from the page it goes red again.

In the console no errors when running the connectivity test either.

Remote Access at Plex.tv faulted.

It was fixed around 4:30am EST

I’ve since deleted the 2 IPs and not allowing any non-US IPs to connect (GeoIP blocking) and it’s still reporting remote access as green. Not sure what changed recently.
