Remote Access using BT router and TP Link Deco Mesh Wifi

I’ve just installed a TP link Deco mesh system in my home. Everything works fine except for the remote access to my Plex. I’m not an expert but have tried following the tutorials online but when I try to port forward on my main modem (BT HUB) it asks for a series of internal and external port numbers.

I have only found the 32400 that is listed. Is it something else I need to do to find the ports that I need to configure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Unfortunately that did and didn’t work. I was able to set up the port forwarding on the hub for my Deco Mesh WIFI but doesn’t allow Plex through still that’s is connected to the Mesh system.

OK, then there is probably a problem with your mesh setup. Does it have its own firewall?

Are you sure you have got the right IP address for the machine running your PMS?

It won’t let me input the IP address for my Mac that is running Plex in the bt hub.

No firewall on the Deco, I’ve tried doing a port forward on that still didn’t work although it recognised the Mac.

Should I use either of these instead?

For now, I’ve turned the BT Hub wifi back on and created a new connection, that the Mac using Plex is on, which has worked.

It so odd because it tries and says that its set up for remote access and as soon as I refresh its not connected anymore.

So…I have just done a MAC clone on the mesh system for my Mac’s IP address and it seems to have worked. I don’t know what else they may effect but hopefully nothing.

Yes! …sorry, missed that before. You want to use those numbers although not sure why your external port is 21889.

so:

  • External start: 21889
  • External end: 21889
  • Internal start: 32400
  • Internal end: 32400

out of interest, have you manually specified your external port?

It maybe a good idea to do this so it remains constant for the firewall.

So I have set up port forwarding with these codes on the BT Hub. I have also reset my DECO mesh and made sure that it is running as an access point not a router and fingers crossed it all seem to be working fine now. I also set port forwarding on the deco for Plex.
