Remote Access Issue in Plex with Deco X20 Router

Server Version#: 1.24.4.5081
Player Version#: 4.63.0

Hi,

I am in Australia and have a HFC nbn connection from Internode. My nbn modem is connected to the default Internode modem (Archer VR1600V). This connects to the parent TP-Link Deco X20 which then connects to the other two X20 units (one via ethernet, one via WiFi). My NAS (Synology DS918+) is connected to the mesh network with an ethernet cable to a child unit via a switch. The NAS has the Plex server installed.

In Plex Settings → Remote Access page I am getting below message:
Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.
Private 192.168.68.69 : 32400
Public IP showing different IP address & port (let’s say 1234) than the private one.

In Internode modem:

  • I have enabled Bridge mode by going Advanced → Network → DSL: Deleted all existing items, adding a new connection as follows.
  • DSL Modulation Type (VDSL), VLAN ID (Enable, ‘2’), Internet Connection Type (Bridge). Save.
  • I have also disabled both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi networks so only my mesh WiFi networks are discoverable by devices.

In Deco X20:

  • I have enabled UPNP.
  • I have disabled AntiVirus → Intrusion Prevention System.
  • In Advanced → Address Reservation: I have added the NAS device (192.168.68.69).
  • In Advanced → Port Forwarding: Added NAS private IP (192.168.68.69), Internal Port (32400) and External Port (1234).

In Plex:

  • Settings → Remote Access: I have ticked ‘Manually specify public port’ to on, and typed 1234 and hit Apply.

For 5 seconds or so, it shows in green font ‘Fully accessible outside your network’.
After 5 seconds or after navigating away from this side menu bar and back again, it shows in red font againt ‘Not available outside your network’.

I have tried to follow a mixture of guides and solutions from Plex, TP-Link and other forums.
Any advice would be greatly appreicated, thanks.

Jumping straight to your last statement about ignoring the red/green indicators might be the solution to my problem.
If I grab my phone, turn WiFi off (so now I’m on cellular network), I can still access the Plex server and watch anything I like.
Is this proof that Remote Access is working as intended and that the red/green indicators in Plex settings are misleading/wrong?
Thanks.

Thanks very much trumpy.
Problem that was never a problem solved :+1:
