Remote Access via VPN Server

I am currently accessing Plex remotely on my iPhone by logging into my home LAN via a VPN Server. Both Plex and the VPN Server reside on a Synology DS716+ll. It all seems to work perfectly but I am wondering if there are any issues I need to consider. I am a real noob when it comes to this sort of thing and so would like to know if what I have done is okay or not. Thanks

If PMS and the VPN server are on the same machine then you’ll be OK because Synology takes care of the IP address translations in the VPN server.

You might have other issues if you wish to exit the box and go elsewhere on the LAN.
Everything is dependent on the LAN topology you’ve established.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t seem to have any issues but wasn’t sure it was a good way of doing things. I also don’t need to access any other part of my LAN so that’s not an issue. I did this because I had a problem with Plex Remote Access and with Manual Port Forwarding and couldn’t achieve Direct Play anymore. Accessing PMS via a VPN seems to have solved it for me.
