I am having issues with my remote access connection to my plex server. The media server connects sometimes, but only for a few minutes before it shuts down again. I just installed Nord VPN, so I am guessing that is the issue, but I am not sure. I have everything else on the same settings as when I installed it without having NordVPN. Anyone run into this issue and find a solution?
Adding a VPN to the mix will certainly complicate your remote access setup. So much that many simply create an exception / bypass for Plex in their VPN configuration — e.g. considering that communication with your server is already encrypted.
Otherwise you really need to look at your end-to-end communication chain and make sure there’s a clear way through all components (be that a port forward/opening or rules).
I’ve tried using split tunneling to just avoid Plex altogether but that doesn’t seem to have any effect. I’ve also tried removing the NordVPN app from Chrome in case that was causing issues, but to no avail.
