Remote Access with NordVPN. on Qnap NAS

Server Version#: Version 4.136.1

Hello - I’m trying to troubleshoot remote access configuration and I’m not sure what to do. (Not that savvy with networking sorry!).

I’ve gone into my Orbi router settings to port forward
TCP
External:45678
Internal:32400
using my NAS ip address.

I go into into plex settings an manually specify the public port 45678.

I apply and then it says server is “fully accessible…” for a brief second and then it goes to not available outside network.

Any thoughts help? I’ve checked the ‘canyouseeme.org’ to make sure the port is open and it is.

Edit: just realize it might be because I’m using Nordvpn on my NAS. Is there any workaround for this?

If you put the machine fully behind NordVPN, then that means you’re blocking all incoming connections. Servers cannot work then, including web server, mail server etc. but of course also Plex Media Server. The same might be true if you’re behind a CG-NAT. (But if the canyouseeme check worked then you’re probably not.)

Either you have to adjust your network configuration so that incoming connections work properly (usually not possible when using the official apps of these “VPN” providers, but can work if you set everything up manually) or just stop using it completely. Some of these providers might also offer port-forwarding, how it is configured would depend on the provider / their implementation.
