Remote access woes

Server Version#: 4.43.4 (linux)
Player Version#: 8.8.1.21332 (android

I’ve been having problems with accessing my system outside my home network, and can’t work out what the problem is.

Combing through the logs, the only error I get is this:

Nov 02, 2020 03:10:11.379 [0x7f96927fc700] DEBUG - HTTP requesting GET https://???-??-199-132.003fff277d5a42e8b19570298bd5e142.plex.direct:29159/identity
Nov 02, 2020 03:10:11.380 [0x7f96927fc700] ERROR - Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 7
Nov 02, 2020 03:10:11.380 [0x7f96927fc700] WARN - HTTP error requesting GET https://???-??-199-132.003fff277d5a42e8b19570298bd5e142.plex.direct:29159/identity (7, Couldn't connect to server) (Failed to connect to ???-??-199-132.003fff277d5a42e8b19570298bd5e142.plex.direct port 29159: Connection refused)

(Question marks added by me)

But I haven’t found anything in the forums which would explain this. Perhaps my Google-fu is weak.

I’m happy to PM my logs after a restart if that will help.

From a remote point of view, when I initially connect, it seems fine for a few seconds, but then seems to swiftly crash and become unavailable. I’m not sure if it’s just accessing a cached version and failing to update, or whether it’s actually getting through and then dying.

The ‘synced’ items then usually disappear. I usually then try playing from different screens, and sometimes get to access my cached copy, but it’s pretty frustrating, as you can imagine.

Is this a certificate error? A bug? A dumb user setup? I can’t tell.

Restart the server please.
Let run 2 minutes (no activity)
Now download the logs ZIP and attach here.

I collected these logs last night, and have just collected another set, just in case it would be a useful comparison.

In both cases:

There is no connectivity from the port Plex is looking at (external) to PMS internally

Can you Manually Specify Port and also manually configure in the modem/router?

Ok, I’ve done that and rebooted, but it doesn’t seem to have helped.

A different service that I’ve got running on the same machine, which also has a manually specified port seems to be working fine.

I’ve attached a fresh set of logs.

Feel free to connect to my server if it’ll help diagnose the problem.

Same issue for me. Starting with web 4.43.4 the reverse proxied web interface just shows the Plex logo and gets stuck there.

This is my previously working nginx location block:
# Plex
location /web {
proxy_pass https://10.10.0.1:32400;
}

I know you’re busy, is there a similar topic on the forum that I could use to troubleshoot?

Ok, so good news, my system automatically updated to 4.46.2, and remote access seems to be working again.

The dashboard says that I can’t connect, but this doesn’t appear to be correct, as I am off site and can play videos.

I’ll keep checking, and the incorrect reporting is inconvenient, but it’s a heck of a lot better than not working at all, so well done server team!

what URL are you using to access app.plex.tv or via IP?

Both plex.tv and going direct seem to work, although the android app isn’t successfully connecting yet…
