Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but I’ve port forwarded via router as normal, specified that port in plex, and the remote access works briefly…green lights…then it changes to not available outside your network.
Anyone else experienced this? I’ve tried different ports, I’ve tried turning off secure connections etc.
Have you verified if you can still access your server from outside your home network? I’ve seen a number of threads in the last weeks where it seems the remote access status indicator simply got distracted (showing it’s not accessible while remote access was actually working fine).
I’ve asked someone to assist me by testing streaming and they were able to get 144p because of lack of direct connection. Does that help? My NAS is only used for Plex - I’ve never tried, in all the years I’ve had it, to remote to it except by using Plex.
The NAS still has the same internal address (static ip).
I just tried deleting the port forward and trying adding it again with 32400 being forwarded to the static ip. Tested with the port check and it said “connection timed out”. I tried setting a different external port (36000) forwarding to 32400 internally. Still timed out. I tried other ports to no avail.
Could it be my ISP blocking the traffic? Could it be the router is incorrectly configured? Could there be something I’m missing?
Certainly a possibility if you cannot see/access the router‘s public IP address using the specified tcp port. Best to ask them if they’re blocking any traffic and if there’s an option to get an exception (ideally without them selling you some expensive service add-one)
