Remote connection issue

@john914 if you disable secure connections you have to use LocalIPaddress:32400/web you should be able to leave it on preferred if that is what it was on. I only meant for your friends to change the setting on their end in the players they are using.

I agree with you
although for now always setting the option “Allow Insecure Connection” on TVs, it has worked !!!

Nothing changed, status.Plex.tv shows all systems operational including remote access???

Same here, this morning I noticed that my server was unreachable outside my home network. I have no idea how long it’s been since the service interruption. My guess is the last server update did that, so a few days. I’m not constantly monitoring Plex status, so usually if all goes well for me, same should be for my connected friends. There should be a notification email or SMS feature to prompt server administrator to take actions in these eventualities. If it take weeks to notice the service become unusable for my friends. They may think they been kicked-out.

Mine is doing the same thing. Also my raspberry pis that are flashed with plex Home Theater keep saying search and will do nothing else. Have restarted everything multiple times.

I have been racking my head with remote access with problems for two days or so, I bought a new network card I made several changes, I am an expert in networks I thought it was problems with my isp but it all comes down to something wrong with plex, I see that many We are going through this problem my server has been stable for many years and today I do not know what happened, I followed several solution threads I thought it was something internal but it was not like that

I am also having the same issue. The router’s ports are open for sure and yet it keeps saying “Not available outside your network”. The weird thing is that I am able to access my server using my cell phone cell data. Nothing changed on my end it was working one day and now it isn’t. I am using plex Version 1.24.3.5033. Someone please post a solution to this!!!

Same here. I have 3 Plex servers behind the same security GW and 2 of them cannot establish connection with plex for remote access. The firewall rule and porting forwarding polices have not changed on my side. TCPdump outside and inside security GW shows traffic sent and received on local and forwarded port.

The 2 plex servers that cannot establish remote access connectivity are Windows based on 1.24.3.5033. The server that still has remote access connection to plex is FreeBSD based running 1.24.2.4973.

Restarting plex application and rebooting plex media servers has not corrected issue.

Switching update channel to Beta and upgrading to 1.24.4.5081 did not resolve the issue either. Thought it may trick the remote server but it did not.

It also appears some people can access their content from outside LAN. That is not the case for all including myself that cannot access from the internet. Therefore it is more than just cosmetic by server stating “Not available outside your network” for many of us.

Update: The temporary work-around of changing Secure Connections from Preferred / Required to Disabled does work to allow remote access to establish connectivity and clients can connect from the internet however this is not all that safe to leave this way for a long period of time. Not a recommended solution.

Update 2: Plex has fixed the issue as of approximately 11:45 AM EST. They stated the in another thread that fixing the EU-West Plex server which didn’t do too well with the Let’s Encrypt certificate expiration resolved the issue. I have comfirmed that Preferred encrypted connections is working.

same problem here
server stable for years, but for about 3 days I have the problem of remote access.
Actually everything seems to work, but the check keeps failing sometimes the remote access gets disabled automatically.
Are there no official answers to this problem? it is evident that it is a plex problem and not ours

edit, for me now work fine

This work around seem to work, but [secure connection disabled] doesn’t sound like a good alternative.

I’m not sure it’s related but suddenly now I can once again access Plex with Sonos
This has been broken for many weeks (despite my pleas).

My remote connection is stable now. I am consistently connected to the internet. I don’t know if it was related to the issue Plex was having yesterday or Plex did something else but it is fine now

I am still having this problem with Plex version 1.24.3.5033.
I can only connect to Plex via the web app, but cannot connect to it via mobile app nor Chromecast.

I updated to the latest plex pass version today
and i am getting all these remote connection errors as in this thread

i am trying the work around but please fix this.

Another issue Plex Media server after being very stable, has crashed three times since i did the the latest update.

not happy

Same issue for the last few days and still a problem as of now (Oct. 3, 2021 @ 8:13PM PST).

I disabled secure connections and it seems better, but still not right. Let’s Encrypt’s StatusPage indicates an expired root cert which absolutely blows my mind that one of the most prolific automated cert services can’t seem to manage their own root cert renewals.

The incident appears to have cause serious outages all over the internet and now their anchors are being slammed for verifications and simply can’t keep up after the renewal.

This sucks. Even running our own certs (private CA or something other than Let’s Encrypt) likely won’t solve our problem as long as Plex still uses them.

Any news about this? I have tried disabling secure connections but have not had a favorable solution. The server is locally accessible but I don’t have remote access at all (chromecast, Android mobile).

Can we have an official statement about the issue? Are they aware of that? Is a fix coming soon?
