Yeah. I just noticed that happening in my install too. Was wondering if something changed (like my dynamic external IP address) that I needed to adjust in the Plex Server settings but i couldn’t see anything.

Perhaps [FIOS] Internet Connected but no access to Internet while PMS is running

A post was split to a new topic: Plötzlich kein Fernzugriff mehr

This is a common bug. Remote access still works right?

@OttoKerner Is this problem a lot of us are now experiencing being looked into by the plex team?
Or has remote access been turned off to all users now?

There is nothing that can be done on the side of plex.tv
Authentication servers are all up and working normally https://status.plex.tv/

Did you follow the link I set above?
If your ISP has integrated the McAfee security software in their systems, you need to disable it or wait until they have updated their block lists. They have blocked the main plex domain name for all your servers plex.direct from working.

Apart from that:

  • check that your ISP has not put you behind a CG-NAT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT
More and more ISPs do, due to the shortage of IPv4 addresses – even existing customers.
  • after a major Windows Update, verify that the network connection is not back to ‘public’ classification
  • after a router firmware update or the exchange of the router, verify that the network connection in Windows is not back to ‘public’ classification
  • If you have been using the automatic configuration until now, switch to the manual port forwarding. Don’t forget to tick the checkbox and don’t confuse external and internal port numbers: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/
  • look up the external port number under Settings - Server - Remote Access
Use canyouseeme.org to test its availability (must be done from inside the same local network as the Plex server).

The behaviour to show the availability at first in green is normal. The connection check is only performed after you enter this page. So if the check is turning out negative, the status appears to switch to red after a few seconds. When in fact it has been red from the beginning.

For some of you, the issue might be connected to this one:

Try to disable the iTunes plugin, if you have it activated.
Settings - Server - Plugins - Enable iTunes plugin

I have likewise been having this problem (Remote access “Not available outside your network”) but only since installing the latest version of Plex Media Server (1.18.7.2438). Remote access on my Plex server had been working without any problems for months before I installed that latest update.

I do not have the iTunes plugin enabled. I have never had the iTunes plugin enabled. I do have iTunes installed on the same machine - could that be an issue? Should I remove iTunes?

I have deleted port forwarding in both the Plex settings and on my router, restarted my router, re-added the port forwarding settings on the router, then re-added the port forwarding settings on the Plex server, then restarted the plex server.

As far as I have been able to determine, the only applicable change that was made to my server since remote access was working is the update to 1.18.7.

I have the same issue. I’ve tried all the suggestions I’ve found online with no success.

I have installed version 1.18.7.2457 in the (fruitless) hope that the remote access problem is addressed. No luck. Remote access is still not working in the way it did before installing 1.18.7.2438. None of the previously mentioned suggestions solve the problem.

(Possible solution) So here’s an update. My old router was a Comcast gigabit router that didn’t work when I manually forwarded the port or work by setting my device I have the Plex server on to DMZ. So I bought a new router, the Motorola MT7711, which also didn’t work when manually forwarding the port. BUT it did finally work when used with DMZ. So that makes me believe there’s another port Plex needs that we don’t know about. Or maybe some other unseen solution, I don’t know, it doesn’t make any sense. Anyway that’s what I had to do in order to get it to finally work. Thought I’d at least share

PMS Version: 1.18.7.2457

Starting today, I have been noticing that I can’t even authnticate with my ID to my plex server. I used the plex web play and login with my id and password, and tells me error login. Then I unchecked the “start plex media server at login” and am then able to get into PMS. I check my Remote access, and it shows green.

I tested out the canyouseeme.org with port and IP and its all good there. Tells me Success: I can see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port ( 32400 )
Your ISP is not blocking port 32400

Plex status page show everything operational, but I doubt that. Auth svc must be having issues. Plex.tv/link doesn’t work anymore when trying link your account to your app in any of the devices.

What going on plex?

Yeah there having more issues. Can’t get to my server either or authenticate as of ~20mins ago.

Try to downgrade to 1.16. Yes, I’m spamming this board with this answer, but hoping to get to everyone having this issue so we can get the dev’s attention and see what’s going on, as well as give you a solution that may help in the meantime while 1.18.x is fixed. See my issues (Synology DS1019) here: DS1019+ Users other than admin can't see server, since migration

I tried downgrading but I am still having the same issue. I am a novice & would appreciate a step by step instruction on how to fix this - very frustrating

I too am having a problem now, seems to be an issue with a security token, working with @sa2000 on it, you might want to have him debug your setup as well. Did you setup a PMS server from scratch, or move/transfer data so you wouldn’t lose your downloaded metadata and watchlist?

hey, can someone please help me? I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong… I’ve been using plex for a year and it all worked fine and now all of a sudden it decided to stop sharing my media library outside of my house…

I’m not a super tech guy but on my AppleTV everything works when I disconnect my phone from the Wifi and it goes on 4G I lose everything… It’s not so much an issue for me but my sister with 3 Kids in the house is calling me asking me to fix it or she might kill one of them
