Remote Control of Samsung TV via iOS App

I have Plex Server installed on a Synology NAS. All works fine. Web interface works fine.

I have the Plex client v. 5.10.5 installed on my Samsung TV. This too works fine and connects without issue to the server.

I’ve installed the latest iOS App and, by itself, it too works fine.

My issue is that I cannot control the Samsung instance of Plex using the iOS app. I see the Samsung under “Choose a player” on the top right of the app, but when I select it, trying to play anything just sits and spins on iOS. Nothing happens on the Samsung screen.

I could not find any settings on the Samsung to turn on/off remote control permissions. It is worth noting the iOS app works fine controlling the Plex web interface.

Everything is on the same network. I’m am logged into everything using the same Plex account (not PlexPass).

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for the quick reply. Before posting here I researched this and I swear there were others who claimed they were doing this. Just for completeness, why does this not work? (Happy to read on my own if this is documented somewhere)… Again, thanks.

The current version of the app is a rewrite. This worked in the previous version, but the code has never been updated for the new version. It’s on the todo list.
