On the newest public version on both Nvidia Shield and Fire tv 4k Stick
Didn’t see a post on this very specific issue 
There seems to be a regression in the use of the play button on both the nvidia shield and fire tv remote
In the old android tv player if you went to a specific episode of a show in a season and you hit the play button on it instead of clicking through and then hitting the software play button it would play that episode. The current behavior seems to instead play the first episode of that season that hasn’t been watched - even though you selected a different episode
I have confirmed the same behavior on two nvidia shields and a 4k fire tv
