Server Version#: 1.40.4.8598
Player Version#: 10.17.0.868 (Android)
This update seemingly broke remote playback (for my client mentioned above but also for another remote client on a different platform) for my servers running on Windows 10 (VMs) on a Windows Server 2022 host with dual Intel Xeon E5-2697a v4 CPUs. Transcoding occurs because of my very limited upload bandwidth. Local playback worked fine.
Initially tried a number of things on 1.40.4.8598 - rebooting the VM, repairing the DB via ChuckPA’s script, checking PMS settings. I did see some error logs but I just wanted to resolve these issues ASAP as it was affecting 5 main servers (4 running on the hypervisor mentioned above and one running on VMware ESXi v7) and the weekend is upon us.
However, it did not cause issue for my backup server running on a Windows 11 host (bare metal) with an i9-9900k CPU.
I downgraded to 1.40.3.8555 and the issue was resolved.
If it is any help at all, I was seeing a lot of these error messages on the servers with issues when initiating remote playback:
“could not find any MFT for the given media type”
“Failed to create Direct3D device”
I’ve tried 1.40.4.8598 beta as well (Windows 10). Transcoding fails and I had to reinstall 1.40.3.8555.
I think its trying to force qsv, which is not present on my I7-6800K with AMD Radeon RX 5700XT.
Console errors:
[AVHWDeviceContext @ 000001d2d54c2d80] Error initializing an MFX session: -3.
and
Failed to set value ‘qsv=qsv@d3d11va’ for option ‘init_hw_device’: Unknown error occurred
I have the exact same issue.
I haven’t touched these settings for ages. Been working fine.
Now no remote users can watch anything that needs transcoding.
I have a lowly NVidia GeForce 210 in the server. Never gave any issues until now.
Windows 10 is up to date with this months patches.
The issue seemed to start about 5 days ago for me.
