Remote streams Limitations?

A friend of mine is having an issue accessing my PMS from more than one location. he is on a trip right now and his other half is at home and they both cannot use the Plex account, at the same time. I have my Remote streams set to 5. I do pay for the Plex Pass on my server.

Is there a restriction that prevents the same account from access my PMS from two different locations?

Are they transcoding by chance? Number of transcodes can be limited in server transcoder settings.

I have concurrent transcoding set to 20, so that shouldn’t be the issue

Does the person, who I’ve shared access to my server, also have to be paying for a Plex pass?

They do not need a Plex Pass.

Are they using a Plex mobile app on a phone or tablet?

The mobile apps are free to download, but have a one-minute timeout for video.

The mobile apps may be unlocked via:

  • Pay a one-time in-app fee ($5 USD, should be similar in other countries).
  • Purchase a Plex Pass
  • Be invited to a Plex Home of someone with a Plex Pass.
    Do not do this if they have their own Plex server.

Which apps are they using to stream? Possibly there is a bug in the player app.
