Remove ad markers for media items

Does anyone know how to get rid of existing ad markers that were created when a show was first recorded? If you’ve manually edited the video file and removed the commercials, but then go back and watch the show, you’ll see the little “Skip Ads” button pop-up throughout playback, which is annoying since there are no ads in the content.

You would have to turn off commercial detection and Plex dance the file to remove the metadata.

I had already disabled commercial detection for the recording prior to posting.

Lovely. I was hoping this wasn’t the case due to the amount of time it will take to relocate so many files, but I suppose that it is what it is right now.

Perhaps the Plex team can add a feature in the future to the show and episode levels to allow removing commercial detection metadata.

Thanks.

In the past I have just hidden the show directory by adding a . to the front of it and scanned then empty trash. Once the posters disappear and rename it back.

Yeah, wasn’t talking so much about actual file system manipulation, more so the amount of time to rescan so many episodes. This particular show has almost 400 episodes. So that’s just a lot of time spent processing just to remove the commercial markers. But thanks again.

Assuming you haven’t manually edited all 400 shows then you just have to do the plex dance with the ones you edited.

As a matter of fact, yes I did manually edit almost 400 episodes.

Wow. Well then the amount of time reprocessing those episodes is minor compared to the time you spent doing that editing

The point is taken that there should be a way to remove the pointers, having dealt with this myself albeit on a smaller scale. And maybe there is by database editing etc that I’m not aware of.

One more issue that there should be a way to deal with but without an apparent solution then Plex dance to the rescue again.
