I dunno if Editions feature is quite right in this case since it sounds like it’s not different cuts of a film, but different resolutions of the same film.

If it’s a situation where you have a 4K version and a 1080p version, I think the expectation is that Plex admins aren’t separating out their libraries based on format anymore. Plex can manage multiple versions of the same title rather reliably now and I think the recommendation of having them in separate libraries isn’t typical anymore. I’ve seen posts suggest merging those libraries together for more seamless management in other situations.

Plex handles it really well with different resolutions of the same title and autoselecting the right one based on both client setup and remote bandwidth. It doesn’t seem to always work out if HDR\SDR is the only difference but if it’s just 4k vs 1080p vs 720p vs 480p I’ve found it very reliable.

It might be worth looking into merging if it’s two libraries with the same titles. I had mine split up in the past and merged them without too much effort a few years ago.

(those articles should probably cross-link - they refer to the other function but only one cross links)

I think Editions feature works best for different cuts of a film - Director’s Cut and a Theatrical. The only current bug with those is that Editions don’t show up in discover features (if that matters to you - like when you click on an actor to see other films).
