I’m not sure what else to say, the “Continue Watching” shows duplicate titles when the same title exists in two libraries. In other words, two complete identical items shown side-by-side in the continue watching “row.”
Example:
2 Folders
/Movies/
/Kids/
2 Libraries:
Movies Library
/Movies/
/Kids/
Kids Library
/Kids/
If I watch a Kids movie it will show up double in Continue Watching.
I just thought I’d mention it because it looks weird.
I have this happen for my regular and 4k library. I’ve put a poster on my 4k content so I can tell which one to pick when I resume. The same thing for my English vs foreign language tv content.
The only other option is to use editions. Those items are matched to the same title but are recognized at separate items
If they have the ability to distinguish two copies as separate items, I’m not sure why they can’t apply that to a library setting in the advanced tab
Plex looks at each library to populate Continue Watching.
It sees a partially watched movie in the “Movies” library and displays it in CW. It does the same for the “Kids” library.
Plex does not compare between the two libraries when populating CW, so the movie is listed twice.
Right now, there is no direct way to prevent the duplicate listing in CW when both libraries are pinned to the Home page.
Possible workarounds (none of which may work for you):
Unpin one of the libraries.
Remove /Kids directory from the Movies library
(which makes Movies = “Movies except for Kids Movies”)
Use a Smart Playlist + Unpin Kids library.
a) Tag the kids movies with a specific label or genre, or add them to a specific collection.
b) Sort the Movie library by label/genre/collection/etc. Use Advanced Filters if needed.
c) Create a Smart Playlist. New additions that meet the criteria will be auto-added.
d) Unpin Kids, Pin Playlists, and use the Smart Playlist to see only the Kids movies.
If any devs come across this post in the future, it would be great if Continue Watching only shows the title once from the library it was played, and not from all the libraries where the title exists.
It’s not a death sentence when there’s just two, but if the same title exists in 3 or more libraries, like if you introduce 4K libraries, then you’ll get 3+ duplicates side by side in the CW.
I understand this is not a common issue/problem, so I’m not here demanding anything, I’m just saying it would be nice if it wasn’t showing duplicates.
