Hi I have a question.
Is it possible somehow to not press in pin to select main user when I’m on LAN, so when I use Plex app on Apple TV 4k or Nvidia Shield Pro I don’t have to put in PIN code each time?
You can configure most clients to auto sign-in. This can only be enabled by the Admin; when the user is changed (requiring them to enter their pin), Plex will remember that user and keep that user signed in in the future (without requiring them to enter their pin again).
You cannot however use regular fast user switching and selectively enable pins for remote use cases but disabling them inside your home network.
Yeah. This is a per-device basis. So if you keep your apple TV and Shield inside the house all the time, then those will never need a PIN to log in, while your phone or whatever remote device you may use will still need a PIN.
Hi thanks for the answers guys.
I’m still a little confused where to set this?
Lets for an example say I have 3 users.
In home screen where I select the user:
1 x admin with PIN (I want to have this PIN disabled at login screen and auto login at LAN). When not at home this should be enabled.
2 x managed users without pin.
As explained above, you can do that on a per-device basis – not based on network. Assuming the “on network” part mostly refers to stuff like your big screen TV, this should cover your use case though. This will not cover situations where you want to switch users without the need for a PIN.
- Open the app in question
- Sign-in as the admin user
- Go to the app’s settings
- Enable
Automatic Sign-In
If you want the automatic sign-in to apply to one of your managed users, switch to that user. When you’re starting the app the next time, it should automatically open with that user selected / signed in.
Thanks for the answer.
I got some time to try it, and it was as you explained only part of what I was looking for.
The problem is my kids can’t find out if it already picks the last used profile.
It it could remove the pin on the app but default gets to the user screen, that would be perfect, but that’s not how it works.
Most Plex clients do show the user’s avatar picture on the home page (top left).
If you give each of your kids a very distinct avatar picture (maybe let them choose it themselves), they can be taught to look out for their picture when opening the client.
Thanks, but there are some violent movies, that the kids shouldn’t have access to when auto login, that’s why I hoped for a solution where it defaultet to select profile menu.
Your only option is then to disable “autologin” on this particular client. Then it will always start at the user selection screen.
