Remove "'Tis the seasons"?

How to remove the stupid “Tis the season” from the home section. It is super annoying. Only a fool thinks it a good idea to put something unwarranted.

I want it remove on all platforms.

Enabling/disabling this feature is completely in your hands. No need to panic or to call others names.

This doesn’t solve the problem in the home section. Also i have over 50+ libraries/catalog not one. Anyone think this is a good idea to clutter an already clutter UI?

You can uncheck this hub for both the “recommended” tab of your libraries as well as the home screen. If you don’t want to see it, that means you need to disable it for all 50 libraries. I guess less libraries might be less clutter – but obviously having the seasonal hubs enabled will add to that pre-existing clutter (no offense).

More libraries means better organization and less clutter in one library.

It would have been nice of Plex to make this an option to turn ON, rather than having to turn it OFF!

I love this feature and certainly hope it gets to stay.

i don’t like it when you just get features pushed onto your eyes that you don’t need.

Agree the default should be off.

Plex is a home media server not Netflix, prime, hulu, etc. You know what you have on your server. Plex don’t need to push content you own.

Netflix, prime, hulu, etc all have extremely bad clutter UI. It takes forever to find what you want on those service. I don’t want to spend my time navigating the clutter UI.

I like “Tis the season” a lot and so do my users.

How do you do this? This hub is driving me insane by pushing what I want to see off the bottom of the (Apple TV) screen.

cheers.

thanks! I did a search on the forum but didn’t think about the help pages!

I do not understand why Plex, an dEmby for that matter, are so resistant to defaulting new options to off. I know they want the new stuff used. I also know that Plex and Emby assume that their users are too stupid to from time to time check if new features are added.

I, for one, am not that stupid. Neither are the people I know that use Plex or Emby.
They only things that should be added and defaulted to on are those few things that directly effect how the library(s) get used. Everything else should default to off.

It is simple common sense to not interfere with the viewing of local media by adding features and then slapping everyone in the face with, “Look how clever we are.” I know developers very much need the reassurance of everyone looking at their product but this kind of crap simply alienates many people.

Yes I turned it off as fast as I could but I should not have had to turn it off. Even a one time popup saying something like “Do you want to enable seasonal themes and suggestions?” and the abiding by the user’s choice.

I NEVER want a machine, even my machine, making suggestions or cluttering up my screen with what I call less than trash.

But Plex say, as they always have, “It’s the Plex way or the highway” and they NEVER really listen to their users.

A pop-up is a good idea.

IMHO, pop-ups are never a good idea, unless what they are asking is mission-critical. That is not the case here, so Plex should stay out of my face.

…but isn’t putting the “tis the season” on the screen without asking (or permission) also “in your face”?

Yes it is and more so than a one time popup to confirm that you want or don’t want a feature.

The ONLY “features” that should default to on are the ones that are fixing bugs.
But Plex assumes stupidity on the part of their customers and, therefore, assumes that no one will use a feature unless they get slapped in the face with it.

Personally, and I wish there was a way to default to this action, I turn off all features when they show up and then, after careful consideration, either turn it on or try my best to ignore it. Mostly I turn useless crap like this off and never even think about turning them on again.

Forcing users to turn off extra crap just says one more time that Plex believes they are one, maybe two, steps below God. Plex was for viewing and playing the local media but now it is for promoting crap and trying to shove that crap down the throats of their users.

Agreed, a pop up would be best. This is the biggest thing I despise with all clients. A separate UI update vs security update would be nice too. Windows update screws to much of my stuff up automatically already… to be fair though a lot of users truly are dumb… from personal experiences

many people welcome new features into the software they pay for and use daily.

as plex is consumed on a screen and using scrollable or tactile menus, i would presume these new features would be pushed into my eyes versus another less desirable orifice.
