Sony TV Plex App Home Customization

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#:8.27.2.29938

Not sure if I have the correct Player Version. Do I provide the number from that shows up on the bottom right corner when I select settings on the Plex App on my Sony TV?

When I select the Home icon on the Plex App on my Sony TV, I see “Continue Watching”, “Recently Added Movies”, “Tis the Season”, “What’s on now”, “Plex Picks” etc.

How do I remove “Tis the Season”, What’s on now" and “Plex Picks” from my home screen?

I keep landing on the same support articles, Customizing the Big Screen Apps | Plex Support which leads to Manage Recommendations | Plex Support.

I don’t see options to remove the above suggestions like “Plex Picks” when I follow those articles.

I am very new to Plex so I may don’t really understand a lot of the language.

Any help would be appreciated.

The support article you’ve linked above is mostly about which libraries to be pinned to the sidebar and their order.
If you want to influence which hubs (can) show on the home screen or the library recommended page, you need to manage that in your server settings (this includes the 'Tis the Season hub).

That helps. Now I know to call those things “hubs”.

I only have one item in my libraries, called Movies. I unchecked everything for it to see what happens.

I still see a bunch of hubs that I can’t figure out how to control in my server settings. It’s all that free TV stuff that seems to be included in my app. Is this something I am stuck with because I am using the app downloaded through my Sony Android TV? The hubs are called, What’s On Now, Plex Picks, Cheap Thrills, Film & TV Web Shows. I don’t want to see any of that stuff, if possible.

I figured it out. You have to move to highlight the pinned Plex library, eg. Live TV and then move to the left, click the three vertical dots and choose unpin from sidebar.

I guess the confusing thing to me is that I get this Plex server with a bunch of free libraries like Live Tv, Web Shows etc. These are all pinned by default and you will get a bunch of hubs in your Home because of this.

This has nothing to do with my server settings as far as I can tell and it is included in the Plex Client that I downloaded on my Sony TV. It is really messy and I almost deleted Plex because of it.

I would have preferred not pinning that stuff by default and allow users to discover it and try it on their own.

If you don’t want the free ad-supported stuff, disable it in your account here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

“Continue Watching” is the main hub in Plex.
It will show you the next episode of a series you’re currently watching, as well as any movies which you haven’t finished watching yet.

On a side not, what Sony tv are you using ?

I don’t necessarily hate the free stuff. I am trying to get my library in order. I am coming from Kodi and relied on a folder view. I want to get my library to show up nicely in Plex even without folder view, but with all the extra clutter from the free stuff I couldn’t see what was going on. It is total madness.

I found that Plex has a folder view too, but it isn’t working too well for me at the moment. I have to click in to a folder and exit and go back in to see the contents. The first attempt shows nothing in the folder.
