[REOCCURRING 8.12.2] The Android APP on my TV does not Work, but the Cast option does

all video files! even plex own streaming movies!

That’s it i give up.

2 weeks giving benefit of the doubt to Plex
My TV does not allow to install app from the web so Plex is stuck in 8.12.2

Just updated to 8.12.3 (beta) and that appears to fix the issues I was having.

It now exhibits the same behaviour as 8.11

tried the same 3 Movies I was using in my other post

1 Remux DTS-MA
2 Encoded File with DTS-MA
3 Encoded File with EAC3 5.1

They all playback with Passthrough set to HDMI and with Passthrough off.

AV Receiver Shows Dolby Digital+ for the EAC3 File and PCM for the DTS-MA

Same results on AV Receiver for both Passthrough settings

I’m in 8.12.3 and having this same issue on plex android for smartphones.

Hi. I have Sony A8H OLED which I bought a couple of weeks ago. After being pleasantly surprised by the native support for PGS and speed of Plex - suddenly I am facing the same issue. Initially I was just experiencing the ā€œAn error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try againā€ whenever I tried to play anything with DTS. I uninstalled and reinstalled the next day which seemed to fix it but then the app must have updated again and the issue returned but this time, the video will play but with a big jump every second or so with no audio at all.

I have tried sideloading the new betas, sideloading old version 8.11 but nothing works. Each time I’ve sideloaded a new version, just before I play a file, a message pops up that is a bit too fast to read but I think says ā€œupdating player supportā€. Once the file starts playing I get the same issue, jerky video with no sound whenever there’s multichannel audio.

Surely these updates should be subject to regression testing on common platforms to check introduced changes haven’t completely broken the app? Almost a week of this now and it’s very frustrating! I’d appreciate any tips of how I can get an older version sideloaded that will fix this?

Ha - looks like I had a few issues as my daughter called me to say Disney+ was going ā€œall funnyā€. A Factory reset and it’s playing nicely again now on 8.12.3.22809.
